Healthy Habits: Sleep, Screens & Food

Build calm routines for sleep, screens and meals that survive real life.

For parents who want steadier bedtimes, saner screen rules and peaceful meals without daily power struggles.

What you will be able to do

The five lessons

  1. Sleep routines that work · 12 min · free
Build a short, predictable bedtime routine that helps your child wind down and stay in bed.
  2. Screen time: rules, transitions and co-viewing · 12 min
Set clear screen rules, make screen-off transitions smoother, and use co-viewing to turn screens into shared time.
Builds on: Lesson 1 built a predictable bedtime routine. Now you use the same predictability and warm limits to shape screens, including the screen-free wind-down.
  3. Mealtimes and picky eating without battles · 13 min
Use a division of responsibility so mealtimes are calmer and your child slowly widens what they eat.
Builds on: Lesson 2 used rules set in advance and calm limits. Now you apply the same ideas to the table: clear structure, no pressure and no battles.
  4. Morning and evening rhythms that hold together · 12 min
Link sleep, screens and meals into predictable morning and evening rhythms your child can follow with less nagging.
Builds on: Lessons 1 to 3 gave you a sleep routine, screen rules and a calm table. Now you connect them into one daily flow.
  5. Keeping habits going through change · 13 min
Keep core routines steady through travel, illness and new schedules, and recognize when to talk with a pediatrician.
Builds on: Lesson 4 linked your routines into a daily rhythm. Now you learn to flex that rhythm when life changes, then restart it.

A taste of lesson 1

Sleep routines that work

Bedtime is where tired kids and tired parents meet, so it is no surprise it can go badly. A steady routine does most of the work. The goal is a calm, connected path to sleep, not a perfect night.

  • Predictability calms the body
  • Set a consistent window
  • Make the room sleep-friendly
  • Pair limits with connection
“I love you, and it is sleep time now. We already did water and hugs. I will see you in the morning.”
When: Your child keeps asking for one more thing after lights out.
