Vegetables go untouched
Problem: Veggies come back untouched every night.
Hack: Serve them first, as an appetizer, while kids are hungriest and dinner is still cooking. Cut the veggies into cool shapes, add a dip, and they vanish before the main course arrives.
Food and eatingPicky eater refusing everything
Problem: Your child eats five foods and all are beige.
Hack: Serve a "no-pressure plate": one safe food next to one tiny new bite, with zero comment. Kids often need 10 to 15 calm exposures. Eating is not the goal on day one; seeing and smelling is.
Food and eatingHard to get breakfast going
Problem: Weekday breakfast is chaos.
Hack: Make freezer smoothie packs on Sunday: bag up fruit and spinach per portion. Dump into a blender with milk and breakfast takes 90 seconds.
Food and eatingNever enough healthy snacks
Problem: They graze on junk the second they get home.
Hack: Put a "yes drawer" in the fridge at kid height with pre-cut fruit, cheese sticks and yogurt. They choose what they want from the options you approved. Self-serve means fewer snack requests.
Food and eatingKid refuses to drink water
Problem: Your child will only drink juice.
Hack: Add frozen fruit to a clear bottle or a silly straw, and let them pick the cup. Switching the container often matters more than the drink.
Food and eatingSticky, messy mealtime
Problem: Yogurt, sauce and food on the floor every day.
Hack: Put a silicone baking mat under the high chair or table, then simply shake it outside. Or use a cheap shower curtain liner under the chair. Cleanup is ten seconds.
Food and eatingCutting a million strawberries
Problem: Preparing fruit for little ones takes forever.
Hack: Use an egg slicer for strawberries, bananas and kiwi: one press and the whole thing is sliced evenly. It is faster, and kids can do it themselves.
Food and eatingDinner drags on and on
Problem: The table battle goes 90 minutes.
Hack: Set a visible "kitchen closes" time of 20 minutes and tell them once. When the timer rings, the plate is cleared with no scolding. Hungry kids eat faster next time and dinner stops being a power struggle.
