No time with each child
Problem: Your day is a blur and one child gets less time.
Hack: Build ten minutes of "special time" into each day, with the child's choice of activity and phones away. Name it ("Mia time"). A short, reliable moment beats a long, rare outing.
Something elseThe "I'm bored" song
Problem: Five minutes after you set out the toys, "I'm bored".
Hack: Make a boredom jar with slips like "build a fort", "draw a map", "call grandma". Pull one out when they complain. The jar stays out for next time, so you are not the entertainer.
Something elseSibling hand-me-down chaos
Problem: Clothes outgrown piles up unsorted.
Hack: Keep a bin per size in the closet and drop outgrown clothes in as they come off. When the next kid needs them, the right size is already waiting.
Something elseEvery kid wants your attention at once
Problem: Three kids all need you in the same minute.
Hack: Use a "talking stick", then give each child a minute of full attention in turn. After that, use a timer. Kids relax when they know they will get a turn.
Something elseSticky stickers and labels
Problem: You cannot get stickers off a toy.
Hack: Cover the sticker in cooking oil, wait ten minutes, then wipe. The sticker slides off, and you didn't scrape the toy. Wash the item with soap afterwards.
Something elseCrayon on the wall
Problem: A masterpiece appears where it should not.
Hack: Rub with a damp melamine sponge or a dab of baking soda paste on a damp cloth. Test a hidden spot first. Then give the artist a roll of paper taped to the wall for the real thing.
Something elseSpills on carpet and couches
Problem: A juice stain appears the day you clean.
Hack: Keep a spray bottle of one part white vinegar, two parts water, and blot with a clean cloth. Blot, don't rub, and the stain lifts fast. Test a hidden spot first.
