Alex's story: A new baby is coming

First, then...

  1. Baby is growing
  2. The baby comes
  3. A tiny person
  4. Big jobs
  5. Feelings
  6. Family

Calm-down toolbox

  • You can ask for one-on-one time with a grown-up.
  • You can wear headphones during crying.
  • You can draw a picture for the baby.
  • You can tell someone how you feel.

Tips for reading it

Read it together 2 to 3 times a day for several days before the event, in a calm moment (not right before it, and never as a surprise). Read it once more the morning of.

  • Keep your child's core routines the same, and plan a few minutes of special time every day.
  • Let your child help get ready and pick a small gift "from the baby".
  • Check the real details with the place or person (what will really happen, how long it takes) and edit the story to match.

Story Studio writes a draft for you to review and change. It is not medical or therapy advice. Check real details (who, where, when) and adjust anything that does not fit your child. If something about a procedure is unclear, ask the provider.
