Alex's story: Being sick at home

First, then...

  1. Feeling bad
  2. Stay home
  3. Rest
  4. Drink and eat
  5. Medicine
  6. Better

Calm-down toolbox

  • You can rest and sip water.
  • You can ask for a cool cloth.
  • You can watch a quiet show.
  • You can tell a grown-up if something hurts more.

Tips for reading it

Read it together 2 to 3 times a day for several days before the event, in a calm moment (not right before it, and never as a surprise). Read it once more the morning of.

  • Call your doctor for fever that does not go down, trouble breathing, or anything that worries you.
  • Keep a simple sick-day kit with water, a bowl, tissues, and a favorite show.
  • Check the real details with the place or person (what will really happen, how long it takes) and edit the story to match.

Story Studio writes a draft for you to review and change. It is not medical or therapy advice. Check real details (who, where, when) and adjust anything that does not fit your child. If something about a procedure is unclear, ask the provider.
