Alex's story: When someone teases me

First, then...

  1. It happens
  2. Not my fault
  3. Stay calm
  4. Speak up or walk away
  5. Tell an adult
  6. Get support

Calm-down toolbox

  • You can say a short firm sentence.
  • You can walk to a trusted adult.
  • You can take three slow breaths.
  • You can sit with a friend.

Tips for reading it

Read it together 2 to 3 times a day for several days before the event, in a calm moment (not right before it, and never as a surprise). Read it once more the morning of.

  • Keep a calm, listening tone. Ask what happened and write notes to share with school.
  • Role-play short phrases, like "Stop. I do not like that."
  • Check the real details with the place or person (what will really happen, how long it takes) and edit the story to match.

Story Studio writes a draft for you to review and change. It is not medical or therapy advice. Check real details (who, where, when) and adjust anything that does not fit your child. If something about a procedure is unclear, ask the provider.
